We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Leeds, a category B men's Prison located in Gloucester Terrace in the Armley area of Leeds in West Yorkshire.
An integrated and friendly team who value strong culture and ensure everyone in the current team and new starters carry and hold the same PPG values. Lots of opportunity to develop and become more specialist in Health in Justice within substance misuse but also within primary care nursing.
Hours
37.5 hours a week working 3x 9.5 hour shifts and 1x 7.5 hour shift, a mix of day and nights. Shifts are flexible on when days/nights are worked. Day shifts are 7am–8:30pm and night shifts are 8pm–7:30am. Weekends will be one or two a month.
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £47,466 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
* Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and 1-1 settings with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
* Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers; work with individuals on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information
* Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions
* Occasionally be required to support dispensing
* Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person-centred approach

Qualifications and experience
* Registered nurse with current NMC registration
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
* RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake
* Current leadership experience
* Experience of working with opiate-dependent patients and other dependencies
* Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
