Role Overview
Tes is seeking a seasoned and strategic Head of Secondary Sales to drive new customer acquisition and expand our presence within the UK secondary school sector. This management-level role leads a team of Business Development Professionals, creating and executing strategic sales plans while promoting cross-selling opportunities across the Tes product suite.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, extensive software sales experience, and a deep understanding of the secondary education market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Business Development Professionals to achieve and exceed targets.
2. Set clear performance expectations while providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and training.
3. Drive a high‑performance, collaborative sales culture.
4. Develop and deliver strategic sales plans to grow new secondary school customers across the UK.
5. Conduct detailed market research to identify leads and emerging opportunities.
6. Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting to closing, ensuring high conversion rates.
7. Work closely with Marketing to align integrated campaigns supporting customer acquisition.
8. Identify and implement cross‑selling opportunities within existing customers and small Groups.
9. Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to support revenue growth and expand group penetration.
10. Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive insights to continuously refine strategy.
11. Provide regular reporting to the Sales Director on performance, insights, and areas for improvement.
12. Ensure a superior customer experience by fully understanding the needs of secondary schools.
13. Engage with customers through business reviews, events, and ongoing relationship‑building.
What Will You Need to Succeed?
Experience
14. Significant software sales experience with expertise in managing sales teams.
15. Proven track record of exceeding targets in a B2B SaaS/software environment.
16. Strong leadership qualities with a passion for coaching and developing teams.
17. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
18. CRM proficiency (Salesforce or similar highly preferred).
19. Analytical, data-driven approach with strong performance measurement skills.
20. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
21. Willingness to travel for customer visits, team support, and internal meetings.
