Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. This role involves working closely with clients to enhance their quality of life, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting independence.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition.
* Assist with medication administration as per care plans.
* Engage in behaviour management techniques to support clients with challenging behaviours.
* Facilitate social interaction and recreational activities to promote mental well-being.
* Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
* Perform light housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a safe and clean environment.
* Assist clients with mobility, including heavy lifting when necessary.
* Drive clients to appointments or social outings as required.
Skills
* Experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar environments is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, senior care, hospice care, and home care practices.
* Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide patient-centred support.
* First aid certification is an asset.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
* A valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties.
