Our Senior Solutions Architects regularly work with senior stakeholders to guide the development of technology products and drive solutions for our core propositions. You will have the opportunity to bring your experience in modern architectural practices to innovate, refresh our estate and experiment across a complex range of organisational capabilities. Projects involve cloud computing, AI, consolidation, migration, integrations, and simplification. Solutions typically involve changes to business processes, operating models, applications, data flows, infrastructure, and third-party integrations.
You should have a solid understanding of business goals, objectives, and outcomes, as well as business capabilities, value streams, and processes, and their importance in solution architecture.

About the role
* Reports to the Principal Architect (Lead Domain Architect) and is aligned to the Business Value Stream to deliver solutions meeting strategic outcomes.
* Leads large-scale simplification, integration, refactoring, and rehosting of Pensions Platforms, challenging the status quo with modern architecture solutions.
* Works in a fast-paced, regulated environment within a Pensions/Savings industry context.
* Develops own and team capabilities, willing to coach and mentor other architects.
* Provides enterprise guidance, exploring emerging technologies to influence business and operating models.
* Uses architecture modeling languages like ArchiMate, C4, and tools like Ardoq, BizzDesign, LeanIX, Orbus Infinity, and frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, adapting Visio as needed.
Responsibilities
Interpret Business Needs
* Translates requirements into architectural blueprints supporting business objectives.
* Collaborates with product owners and managers to ensure a robust architectural foundation.
* Understands business drivers and capabilities to align enterprise solutions with transition and change requirements.
Assess Technology
* Monitors current solutions for deficiencies and aging technologies.
* Supports decisions on retiring or refreshing systems and applications.
* Identifies opportunities for technical debt reduction and strategic improvements.
* Evaluates software products, platforms, and vendor options.
* Ensures solutions are evaluated across all architecture layers, including security and infrastructure.
Apply Technology
* Leads evaluation, design, and analysis of technologies aligned with enterprise strategy.
* Manages executable architecture for projects or initiatives, ensuring integration with enterprise capabilities.
* Acts as a consultant on various technologies to drive business outcomes.
* Coordinates with project teams to align execution with design plans.

Skills
Technical breadth in design leadership, analysis, and development of technology solutions. Hands-on experience with modeling languages, migration technologies, policy platforms, and modern architectural practices. Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, DDD principles, and cloud technologies. Proven analytical, influencing, and communication skills.
Engineering background preferred in areas such as CI/CD, integration, cloud migration, Java, databases, observability platforms, etc.
