Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Fashion T Level Teacher to join our team on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator with strong industry knowledge to deliver high-quality teaching across our T Level Fashion Maker programme.

You will play a key role in inspiring learners, developing their creative and technical skills, and preparing them for progression into higher education or the fashion industry. The role involves delivering engaging lessons, assessing student work, supporting learner progress, and contributing to curriculum development within a dynamic fashion department.

Who are TMC?

The Manchester College is the Largest Further Education College in the United Kingdom and has the largest provisions for 16-19yrs olds, adults, and higher education in Greater Manchester. We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £30,750 - £32,931*. It’s a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.

*Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances*.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

7. Certificate of education or PGCE.
8. Current and valid industry specialism.
9. Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation).
10. Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
11. English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above.
12. Proven experience teaching A Level Fashion.
13. Experience delivering or contributing to A Level or T Level programmes, ideally within Fashion or related vocational areas.
14. Strong subject knowledge in fashion design, garment construction, pattern cutting, and textiles.
15. Deliver outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment across T Level Fashion Maker programmes.
16. Plan and develop engaging schemes of work and learning resources aligned with curriculum requirements.
17. Support students through tutorials and 1-to-1 reviews, monitoring progress and achievement.
18. Prepare learners for assessments, projects, and industry placements linked to the T Level programme.
19. Work collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners to ensure high-quality provision.
20. Promote student engagement, employability skills, and progression opportunities.
21. Experience assessing student work and supporting learner achievement.
22. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
23. Recent industry experience within fashion or garment production.
24. Experience working with employers or supporting industry placements.
25. Knowledge of current fashion trends and sustainable practices.
