A specialist setting in South Shields is looking for a Level 3 TA to join their team supporting children and young people aged 3–16 with a wide range of additional needs. It’s a nurturing, purpose-built school where aspiration, commitment, manners, and enjoyment guide everything they do.
You’ll be part of a team that sees the potential in every pupil and works closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to unlock it.
What the role involves:
1. Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support across Primary and/or Secondary phases
2. Using de-escalation, regulation, and therapeutic approaches to support emotional wellbeing
3. Helping pupils develop communication, independence, and life skills
4. Collaborating with the wider support team to ensure consistent care and learning strategies
You’ll need:
5. A Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent)
6. Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND (ASD, SEMH, PMLD, or complex needs)
7. Confidence using communication systems ( PECS, Makaton) and sensory strategies
8. A calm, empathetic approach with strong behaviour support skills
