About the Role
Leeds City College are seeking two passionate and dedicated English Teachers to join our dynamic team within the School of Social Sciences. We have two exciting opportunities available:
1. one permanent position
2. one fixed-term role from February to July 2026.
Both roles are full-time, but we are happy to consider applicants looking for reduced hours or job share arrangements.
The team delivers Entry Level Functional Skills & GCSE English to both 16-18 & Adult learners who are enrolled on a Study Programme or a Full Time course in Education & Early Years, Public Services, or Health Science and Social Care. We are based at our Quarry Hill Campus situated in the centre of Leeds opposite the Bus station.
What You Will Do
These roles involve designing and delivering innovative and engaging English sessions to both 16-18 and adult learners of varying ability. You will work closely with the Programme Manager & Course Leader of English to meet the requirements of the qualifications. You will also work closely with the Study Support coaches to identify learners who need extra support and small group support.
As part of the role you will:
3. Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of on-line learning resources.
4. Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
5. Create effective assessment activities, provide developmental and timely feedback to motivate and inspire learners to improve.
6. Develop and strengthen relationships with students and provide support and encouragement to ensure successful outcomes.
7. Join a friendly, supportive, hard-working team who are passionate about developing learners self-esteem, abilities and progress.
About You
8. A recognised teaching qualification.
9. Experience of delivering English GCSE & Functional Skills in an educational setting.
10. Experience of setting targets for students and have strategies and the skills to help students achieve their potential.
