Accounts Assistant - Full time, permanent.

Full time, 35hours per week Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm or similar
Reports to: Finance Manager
We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team in Preston. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s confident working with people across the business — from lawyers to support teams — and enjoys being hands-on with accounts payable, and supporting the wider finance team.
A large part of this role will be accounts payable. The role holder will also support the Finance Manager and Head of Debt Recovery, carrying out credit control activities, month-end reconciliations, and reporting responsibilities. Confidence in communicating with colleagues and clients is key.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the accounts payable process, including posting and processing supplier invoices.
* Liaise with colleagues and budget holders to obtain approvals.
* Prepare and process supplier payments in line with agreed terms.
* Support credit control activities, including liaising with clients and fee earners.
* Complete daily and monthly reconciliations across client and office accounts.
* Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
* Maintain accurate records and assist with month-end routines.
* Provide general support to the wider Finance Team.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in a finance or accounts role, including accounts payable.
* Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
* Strong attention to detail and good time management skills.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in Excel and familiar with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, NetSuite, or similar).
* A team player with a proactive attitude.
