Job Brief
We are seeking a hands-on and dependable Engineering Operative to support maintenance activities across our production facility. Working on a two-shift rotation (earlies and lates), the successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime, support production efficiency, and ensure all equipment operates safely and effectively.
This is a practical, on-the-ground role suited to someone with mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving and working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks according to schedule.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, ensuring swift diagnosis and repair.
Support fault finding across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Record maintenance activities clearly using job sheets or a CMMS platform.
Follow all health & safety procedures, including safe isolation, permit-to-work, and PPE use.
Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and small installation projects.
Maintain a clean and organised workshop and working area.
Communicate effectively with production and engineering teams to minimise disruption.
Escalate unresolved or recurring faults to the Lead Engineer.
Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues or improvement opportunities.
Key Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in a maintenance or engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Excellent understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems (multi-skilled preferred).
Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to fault resolution.
Awareness of health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
Reliable and adaptable, able to work independently across different shifts.
PC literate and comfortable completing maintenance records using Excel or maintenance software.
