Paediatric Research Nurse

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to jointhe Children's Clinical Research Team here at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will be based across both Nottingham Queens Medical Centre and City Hospital sites. The post will be required to work on and deliver a range of projects specific to Children's Research.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators to deliver research projects in Children's Research. The successful candidate will be expected to involve themselves in all aspects of the clinical trial lifecycle from study set up (including governance aspects), recruitment, delivery of the study through to study closure.
The post holders will have to work jointly with the multidisciplinary team, including consultants, practitioners, ward and clinic staff, clinical nurses and specialist nurses. Experiences within research would be beneficial but training and support will be provided.

To cover a flexible service to support recruitment/delivery of Children's Research trials at NUH
To be involved in the informed consent, randomisation and treatment allocation processes as necessary
To manage a caseload of CTIMP, device and observational trials from study conception to delivery, to close down, coordinating the care of your own caseload efficiently and communicating updates to the rest of the team
To assist with the identification and eligibility evaluation of potential trial patients
To undertake / ensure study specific investigations are performed as per study protocol
To perform clinical tests such as venepuncture, ECG's, cannulation, urinalysis, study specific assessments (not an exhaustive list)
To ensure clinical study protocols are adhered to and follow ups are completed as per protocol and to GCP guidelines

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or relevant experience in the paediatric setting
* Knowledge or experience in clinical trials
* A good level of IT skills, demonstrated by competence in Microsoft software packages
* Research qualification
* Experience working in NHS setting
* Knowledge of research methodologies
* Knowledge of research governance and regulations
Experience
* Recent project/research or clinical audit experience
* Experience of independent working with minimal supervision
* Able to manage a caseload of clinical trials with some autonomy
* Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality
* Experience of working in a research setting
Communication and Relationship Skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience with communicating with the wider MDT and other professionals
* Able to display empathy, tact, reassurance and diplomacy when receiving and providing information
Analytical and Judgement Skills
* Ability to assess, evaluate and interpret clinical/non-clinical information against defined protocols in order to determine the appropriate course of action
