Role Summary
The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that all manufactured components meet customer specifications and internal quality standards. This position involves the inspection of precision-engineered parts using a variety of measurement tools and techniques, supporting continuous improvement and compliance with ISO Standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections of machined components.
* Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, calliper's, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
* Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
* Record and report inspection results, non-conformances, and support root cause analysis.
* Liaise with production teams to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Maintain inspection documentation and ensure traceability of parts.
* Support internal and external audits as required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Department.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of mechanical inspection techniques and tools.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
* Good communication and documentation skills.
* Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Experience with CMM operation and programming.
Desirable Qualifications
* NVQ / BTEC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* CMM training or experience with software such as PC-DMIS or Mitutoyo MCOSMOS.
* Lean / Six Sigma awareness.
