Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help deliver our regulatory responsibilities, placed on us as the Enforcement Authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in England. The Reservoirs Act helps to ensure the safe operation and management of dams. This role is part-time (22.2 hours per week) as a job share. The Environment Agency is committed to an inclusive workforce and welcomes flexible working patterns.
You will join the Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation department, within the Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Directorate. The Reservoir Regulation team is nationally dispersed and responsible for the regulation of the more than 2140 large raised reservoirs in England. Some travel and overnight stays will be required.
Responsibilities
* Monitor compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975 for the 2140 reservoirs in England.
* Manage day-to-day correspondence and record incoming documentation on the database to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
* Encourage compliance when reports or certificates are not received as expected.
* Be the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers.
* Provide information and advice on the requirements of the Act.

Additional Role Information
* This is a national role; you can be based at any Environment Agency office.
* Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
* Interviews will be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams during the week commencing 06 October 2025.
* This role includes incident response duties as part of working for the Environment Agency. An incident role is an essential part of supporting communities and protecting the environment.
