About The Role
* Location: Embleton Avenue, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, NE28 9NJ
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, 40 hours per week
* Wage: £7.55 per hour
* Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Early Years Educator
* Duration: 18 months
Overview Of The Role
We are looking for someone with a passion to work with children, spending time watching and playing with them. You will support the team to provide an enabling environment for children to play, learn and develop.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area.
* Keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults.
* Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
* Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
* Be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parent evening, fundraising events, etc.
* Be flexible within working practices of the nursery; help where needed, including domestic duties such as preparing snack meals, cleaning of equipment, etc.
* Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure the nursery’s philosophy is fulfilled.
* Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role.
* Record accidents in the accident book and ensure the Duty Manager has initialled the report before parents receive it.
* Look upon the nursery as a whole and use your help where most needed.
* Ensure child is collected by a person agreed by the nursery and parent.
* Respect the confidentiality of all information received.
Specific Childcare Tasks
* The preparation and completion of activities to suit each child’s stage of development and interests.
* Develop your role within the team, especially as a key person.
* Ensure meal times are a time of pleasant social sharing.
* Wash and change children as required.
* Maintain good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
* Notify the management immediately if a child is unwell or requires immediate attention.
* Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers.
* Provide a high‑quality environment that meets the needs of individual children despite disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history.
* Uphold the high profile of the nursery and maintain its standards both within and outside work hours.
Apprenticeship Summary
* You will work towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification across 18 months.

* All online/remote learning; no classroom or college day release.
* An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship.
