About the Role
Could you help us manage over £250m in payments? We’re looking for an organised and motivated individual to join our systems team — a vital part of the Council’s Revenues and Benefits service.
Supporting the Council Tax and Business Rates, Benefits & Financial Welfare, and Corporate Debt teams, you’ll help to ensure the efficient running of the Revenues and Benefits IT systems, including all associated processes for the collection and billing of Council Tax and Business Rates, and the calculation and payment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out all processes relating to the collection and reconciliation of Direct Debits for Council Tax and Business Rates, and the payment of Housing Benefit.
* The production of bills, recovery notices and benefit notification letters.
* Undertake controls, quality checks and other reconciliations to ensure the validity of data, and to assist with statistical information for management and external/government agencies.
* Responsibility for scheduling batch processes to support the service.
* Provides support for system maintenance and carrying out testing for upgrades to existing software, or new software, when required.
* Deal with requests for new users to be set up for NEC Revenues and Benefits, NEC Document Management, and any other Revenues and Benefits systems.
* Contribute to service plan objectives and participate in performance appraisals and development activities.
* Promote diversity, inclusion, and health and safety standards across all aspects of the role.
What we are Looking For
* A basic understanding of the role of IT systems ideally within a financial services setting, or similar environment.
* Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
* Five GCSEs Grade 4 or above to include Maths and English.
* Understanding of customer needs and managing expectations.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a team.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of GDPR, equality and diversity, and safeguarding responsibilities.
The successful post holder will be subject to a Standard DBS check.
