A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established SEN specialist school in Sheffield from September 2025, with earlier starts available for the right candidate. This full-time position offers up to £625 per week, depending on experience and qualifications.
The school supports students aged 11 to 19, all of whom have complex and varied speech, language, and communication difficulties. Many students also present with autism, sensory needs, and associated learning difficulties.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – The Role
* Up to £550 per week
* Long-term, full-time Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role.
* Support students in 1:1 and small group interventions, focusing on communication, social development, and independence
* Use a range of communication tools including PECS, Makaton, BSL, and AAC systems
* Help implement therapy targets under guidance from Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists
* Provide a calm, consistent, and supportive presence throughout the school day
* Work with a multidisciplinary team to help students achieve their personal and academic goals
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Person Specification
* A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is highly desirable
* Experience working or volunteering with children or young people, especially those with SEN
* High levels of empathy, resilience, and emotional intelligence
* A patient and non-judgemental approach, with a belief in unconditional positive regard
* Desire to pursue a career in a related field such as SEN teaching, therapy, or child psychology
* A driving licence is beneficial but not essential
