At the National CBRN Centre, we bring together the emergency services to protect and prepare the UK against the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threat. It's a critical function and we're looking for suitably experienced and qualified applicants to be our new Training Officer, to deliver the Centre's CBRN training programme to Home Office forces, other organisations and Partner Agencies.
You'll be based at our modern College of Policing site in Ryton, near to Coventry, working Monday to Thursday between 8am to 6pm, but an element of flexibility is necessary to meet business needs.
The role
Work as part of a small team, (and in conjunction with) the four thematic teams of CBRN Training & CPD, Capabilities, Operations and Performance & Development to support, strengthen and assure the police response to CBRN Terrorism. you'll contribute to the continuing development of the National CBRN Centre by designing, delivering, evaluating and quality assuring training materials to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
You'll be personable, flexible and approachable, whilst taking responsibility for managing situations, leading by example, showing commitment and determination to succeed.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and develop the multi-agency service's capability to respond to CBRN terrorism and contribute to the overall vision & mission of the N CBRN C, including the delivery of the Centre's CBRN training & CPD programme to Home Office forces, other organisations and partner agencies.
* Developing, designing, delivering, evaluating and quality assuring training & CPD materials to encourage individual learning.
* Responsible for ensuring quality in training and development programmes through delivery of cost-effective training in support of the CBRN strategy.
* Day to day decision making within the classroom environment.Maintaining and developing a high level of subject knowledge in training, CPD and operational demands.Building and developing relationships with external agencies and suppliers.
* Developing and maintaining senior level relationships
* Undertake any duties tasked by line manager or management colleagues
* Be aware of Policy on Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection and to comply with the legislation and the standards of 'ethics and good practice'
Essential
Skills and Competencies
* Minimum Level 3 training qualification
* CBRN responder background (or alternate CBRN experience)
* Experience of design, development, delivery or management of emergency service training programmes
* Sound, current experience in response to multi-agency, major incidents and public events
* Excellent communicator to all audiences
* Be personable, approachable and people focussed
* Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure without close supervision or direction
* Hold a UK driving licence and be willing to travel nationally as required
Desirable
* A1 or equivalent assessor award.
* Experience of having managed multiple work-streams, projects or demands.
* Knowledge of National Emergency Services' CBRN capabilities, structures and planning processes
Security Clearance
This role requires British Nationality (some dual nationalities may be ineligible) and a Security Check vetting clearence.
You will need to undergo additional security clearance checks, with the offer of employment being conditional on obtaining all of the necessary security clearances.
There are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post.
