Yield & Integration Manager
Our client is a new name in the compound semiconductor foundry space. Its devices are used in mission critical defence and commercial applications.
For over 25-years, they have shipped over 1.5 billion devices from our site to date.
As a part of an emerging semiconductor cluster in the northeast, they are focussed on developing advanced technology, focussed on the next generation of semiconductors. They are looking to fill a number of exciting roles across device design and innovation through to manufacturing & reliability.
They occupy a 10,000 m2 purpose-built Class 100 manufacturing facility fully equipped to produce state of the art compound semiconductor product.
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
An experienced Semiconductor Process Integration/Yield Manager required to lead and develop a team of highly motivated engineers at a world class cleanroom facility.. Responsible for the development and integration new process technologies and to lead yield improvement initiatives across existing production qualified manufacturing processes.
Act as interface with all disciplines within the Operations Dept to ensure stable, robust, repeatable, sustainable and high yielding manufacturing processes are achieved, monitored and maintained with the needs of the customer being paramount. The primary function of the role is to work closely with the environmental agencies and specialist consultants to ensure the plant and equipment are designed and operated in a manner that ensures our licences to operate are fully adhered to and complied with.
Main Tasks:
§ Working with process, device and quality teams to design, develop and qualify new production technologies in-line with our technology roadmap.
§ Lead and develop team of engineers responsible for driving process integration and yield improvement initiatives for new and existing technologies.
§ Drive process integration activities to ensure that gate stage reviews are completed in-line with the technology roadmap.
§ Provide timely feedback on Engineering trials and production data to Design, Development and Production.
§ Track and report line and die yield performance across all production technologies.
§ Develop and maintain yield pareto to pro-actively target improvement opportunities. Lead cross-functional teams to drive yield improvement activities and minimize scrap.
§ Work with Quality, Production and Engineering teams to identify and contain process excursions
§ Develop, monitor and maintain dept Key Performance Indicators in line with internal and external customer needs.
§ Actively promotes safe working environment and culture by ensuring that EH&S standards and procedures are adhered to, and continuously improved.
§ Provide effective people management through the provision of coaching/mentoring and appropriate development planning to ensure the retention of key personnel.
§ Prepare operating budgets to maintain engineering capability to support manufacturing. Maintain focus on cost control for all engineering activities and proactively encourage cost reduction and lean manufacturing principles. Perform off site audits of waste contractors’ facilities and maintain waste stream mapping
§ Responsible for the control and reporting of site pollution and waste transfer notes
§ Maintain and update the significant aspect register to ensure compliance with ISO14001 standard
§ Internal lead auditor performing regular ISO14001 and OHSAS45001 audits
§ Create reports for the monitoring data to ensure compliance to the EA operating permitting conditions
§ Monitor and reporting of CO2 emissions and monthly water and energy usage
§ Review safety data sheets and ensure COSHH requirements are reflected in the chemical risk assessments
§ Measure, monitor, assist department managers to investigate incidents and accidents in their area of responsibility
§ Develop and implement an improvement plan site waste and effluent treatment processes
§ Completion of Environmental returns and other EHS compliance related requirements
§ Liaising with the facilities control room and reporting of non-compliance events to the EA
§ Engaging with the Health & Safety Executive, Environment Agency & other government appointed bodies as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Key Skills
§ Experience of working in semiconductor manufacturing environment.
§ +2 years management experience.
§ Should have process know-how of more than one area.
§ Evidence of project management or leadership.
§ Show evidence of contribution to business planning at a high level.
§ Generation of such guides and documentation.
§ Evidence of understanding development or production within a quality environment.
§ Evidence of SPC implementation.
§ Establish group level budgets and subsequent control of.
§ Evidence of DOE, FMEA application.
§ Experience of II-V device technologies preferable, particularly related to II-VI’s requirements.
§ Evidence for implementation of change
§ control or working within such an environment at an influential level
Education/Qualifications
§ MSc or higher qualification
§ 6-Sigma Green Belt or above
This role will require security clearance.
