Divisional General Manager – Medicine, Emergency Care and Children’s Division, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust

We have recently re‑structured our organisation into three large clinical divisions across Morecambe Bay and this role is key to our success.
Main Duties of the Job
As Divisional General Manager you will:
* Continuously improve the quality of services to patients and redesign services to meet best‑practice standards.
* Be a visible leader, collaborating with your triumvirate colleagues to develop the Division strategy and identify opportunities for clinical innovation and modernisation.
* Drive the delivery of all operational performance targets, waiting‑list and financial management, bed utilisation and management.
* Promote the NHS workforce as a rich and diverse mix of talented people, encouraging applications from all disciplines, including nursing, midwifery, allied health, health‑care science, operational management, and other relevant senior experience and competencies.
* Lead with compassion, curiosity and courage, supporting flexible working arrangements where possible.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant area or significant senior operational experience in a complex organisation.
* Significant experience operating at strategic senior management level in a large, multi‑disciplinary and complex organisation.
* Experience of creating and implementing strategy resulting in tangible improvement.
* Demonstrated experience of leading and motivating staff.
* Evidence of sound financial management of large, complex budgets.
* Experience of managing clinical services and working effectively with clinicians.
* Demonstrable experience of effective change management resulting in improved outcomes.
Desirable
* Relevant specialist MSc/MA/MBA.
* Managed a project which has positively and significantly impacted the organisation and/or patients.
Skills
* Political astuteness and understanding of influencers and how to manage them successfully.
* Ability to shape the future and inspire teams.
* Proven ability to analyse data and information and make appropriate decisions.
* Proven ability to lead change through a multi‑professional / skilled workforce.
* Excellent collaborative working skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships with clinical leaders and professional staff groups, and influence and change these groups.
