Job Title: Highways Electrician
Base Location: Newcastle/North Tyneside
Salary: Up to £31,094, based on skills and experience, plus a Time Incentive Management (TIM) bonus scheme and other benefits.
Working Pattern: Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week. Core hours: Mon‑Thu 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Fri 7:00 am – 12:00 pm. Overtime paid at a premium rate.
Enerveo manages over 1 million streetlights across the UK and Ireland. We design, install, maintain and consult on street lighting to help towns and cities become smarter, greener and more efficient. We need a Street Lighting/Highways Electrician to support the Newcastle team.
Responsibilities
* Maintain streetlighting infrastructure including streetlights, signs and subways – performing lamp changes, visual inspections and electrical testing.
* Carry out electrical connections for new street lighting infrastructure.
* Diagnose and repair faults.
* Deliver outstanding service to clients and the public.
* Operate a mobile elevated working platform (MEWP).
* Attend the emergency standby rota (on‑call for out‑of‑hours call‑outs Monday‑Sunday).
* Work safely and in accordance with all regulations and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
* Electrical background with an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
* Comfortable working outdoors year‑round and at height, using a MEWP above 12 m.
* Full UK driving licence (required for travel to a variety of sites).
Nice‑to‑have Qualifications
* IPAF/PASMA working‑at‑height training.
* Knowledge of the 18th Edition (road lighting standards).
* AM2, City & Guilds 2391 qualification (benefit but not essential).
* Completion of a G39 Electrical Safety training course for public lighting.
* An HGV Class 2 licence.
