Procurement Manager
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our dynamic Supply Chain team. Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, this role involves managing and supporting a team of 5 Buyers specializing in kitting, MRO, and sub-contracting, as well as 2 Procurement Coordinators. Proven people management skills are essential. You will oversee daily procurement operations, optimize processes, mentor the team, and manage a GBP30m spend portfolio. This position is based on-site in Stevenage.
Our client is a well-established, growing global organization in the electronics distribution sector, serving clients in Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, and Medical sectors. They provide product sourcing, traceability, electronic design, logistics, supply chain management, anti-counterfeit testing, and obsolescence management.
They are leaders in quality and service in component distribution, setting industry standards and anticipating future trends to align with customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
* Manage, mentor, and develop a procurement team of 7, fostering a supportive, performance-driven culture.
* Act as the main liaison between the Head of Supply Chain and the procurement team, ensuring clear communication and effective delegation.
* Develop and monitor KPIs to ensure high performance and agility.
Strategic Procurement
* Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce costs, manage risks, and improve quality.
* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
* Develop procurement strategies to secure competitive pricing and mitigate supply chain risks.
* Manage vendor contracts, including sub-contractors, ensuring effective pricing management.
* Monitor supplier performance using established metrics.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Project Managers, Operations, Business Development, and Sales.
* Work with global sourcing teams to strengthen supply chain offerings and project fulfillment.
* Ensure procurement objectives are aligned and successfully delivered across departments.
Market Intelligence & Process Improvement
* Drive continuous improvement in workflows and procurement strategies.
* Stay informed on market trends, technological advancements, and supplier capabilities.
* Leverage market intelligence to maintain competitive advantages and identify cost savings.
Inventory & Cost Management
* Manage stock control and lean inventory practices.
* Maintain accurate contract pricing in ERP systems for imports.
* Analyze material PPV opportunities.
* Achieve cost savings and gross profit targets.
Experience & Requirements
* 5-7+ years procurement experience in electronics or contract manufacturing.
* Previous managerial experience leading procurement teams.
* Proven success in supplier negotiation, cost savings, and supply chain optimization.
* CIPS qualification is desirable.
Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of electronic components, trends, pricing, and key suppliers. Expertise in sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management. Understanding of inventory and supply chain processes in electronics manufacturing. Familiarity with contract manufacturing, kitting, or distribution. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
