Pay and Benefits
* Starting package £58,412 to £65,970 pa – including allowance – while you are in training.
* 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 am – 4 pm (days only).
* 26 days leave plus 8 statutory days, an excellent contribution pension scheme – maximum total 18%.
* Paid overtime, standby allowance, call‑out fee, and bonus (2025 up to 4%).
* Company car (full electric or hybrid) required for the role.

Role Overview
This role initially focuses on training. You will join one of our local regional teams and spend the first roughly 24 months on a training programme, gaining experience on‑site and in the classroom (including short stays away from home) to build your skill base and safety authorisations needed for the next step. Once you are qualified, you will move into the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) role with an increased base salary of £56,374 per annum. As a Substation Engineer SAP you will lead teams of fitters and contractors on high‑voltage substation projects, ensuring work is carried out safely and correctly. Your responsibilities include:
* Providing risk assessments and method statements.
* Ensuring toolbox talks take place.
* Managing, monitoring and reviewing progress on safety‑critical work.
* Undertaking site delivery activities as the appointed temporary works co‑ordinator and principal contractor, as defined in CDM regulations.
* Helping keep the UK’s electricity network running smoothly.
* Joining a standby rota for emergency call‑outs and earning additional payments for expertise and availability.
Requirements
* Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical Engineering qualification.
* Practical industrial engineering skills – installations, breakdown, repair and maintenance of equipment.
* Ability to read schematic electrical drawings, produce risk assessments and method statements.
* Ability to use test equipment and interpret maintenance results.
* Commitment to attend training courses at the Eakring site in Nottinghamshire and other sites, which may require short stays away from home.
* Available for standby rota providing reactive call‑outs for emergencies; must live within 45 minutes of Bexley, South East London.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* Substation/high‑voltage experience.
* Supervisory experience.
* NEBOSH, IOSH qualifications.
