Database (Administrator) Engineer We are seeking a hands-on Database Engineer to own and optimise data platforms supporting our IIoT and Operational Technology environment, ensuring secure data flow, ensuring platforms perform reliably, scale effectively and meet business and operational requirements. The role sits within our OT and Infrastructure Operations and is responsible for database operations, migrations and performance optimisation across global industrial systems thus, requiring a candidate who has proven experience managing complex database platforms and a strong understanding of secure data architecture. Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on: - Lead and deliver secure data transformations and database operations across the estate, ensuring accuracy, reliability and availability - Manage day-to-day database activities, including queries, reporting and user support, to meet stakeholder needs - Oversee database security, access control and integrity, ensuring platforms remain robust and compliant - Maintain and optimise schemas, backups, functions, procedures and related services, with a focus on performance and resilience - Monitor and tune database performance to drive efficiency and continuous improvement - Support secure customer data migration projects, ensuring effective planning, execution and validation - Document database structures, data flows and ingress and egress operations to maintain clarity and traceability - Work closely with OT and Infrastructure Operations teams to support shared initiatives and operational requirements - Contribute to tenders, provide cost inputs, and track operational expenditure related to data services - Maintain oversight of the database environment, using monitoring and reporting to ensure stability and availability - Ensure adherence to data protection standards across all activities and systems - Support Development with testing, recommendations and operational readiness for new features and releases - Provide operational support to both OT and Infrastructure Operations teams, contributing expertise and guidance where required To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: - Company Core Values at all times -Significant experience in managing database operations, including administration, monitoring and optimisation, within a demanding technical environment - Highly skilled in SQL Server Management Studio and associated tooling, with strong capability in schema design, ETL processes and secure data handling - Proven expertise in performance tuning, profiling, backups and recovery, including deep understanding of T-SQL, transaction logs and restore procedures - Demonstrable experience in delivering data transformations, imports and exports, and producing accurate queries and reports for stakeholders - Confident working with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, particularly in relation to database services and integration with on-premise systems - Experience supporting secure customer data migration projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance and operational continuity - Strong understanding of database security, access management and data protection standards - Familiarity with Agile and Scrum practices, and comfortable using project management tools to track delivery and priorities - Excellent collaboration skills, able to work effectively with OT, Infrastructure Operations and Development teams - Able to manage time and workload effectively, maintaining accuracy and control under pressure - Acts with integrity, welcomes feedback and contributes positively to continuous improvement The Steam Thermal Solutions business is one of three businesses within Spirax Group.
