Building Surveyor (Cambridge) (JPC-86)
Salary: £40,000–£55,000
Location: Cambridge (with regional travel)
Overview
We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join a consultancy working across residential, public sector, mixed-use and regeneration projects. You will support pre- and post-contract surveying duties, project delivery and client liaison across Cambridge and the wider region.
Key Responsibilities
Building Surveys & Technical Reporting
* Undertake building inspections (residential & public sector buildings)
* Produce building pathology reports, defect diagnosis and technical assessments
* Review drawings, prepare audit checklists and maintain project documentation
Pre-Contract Duties
* Organise investigations, surveys and due diligence
* Assist with tender processes, including preparing Employer’s Requirements, specifications and JCT documentation
* Support procurement routes and value-for-money assessments
* Attend and minute pre-contract meetings
Post-Contract Duties
* Carry out regular site inspections
* Produce instructions, certificates and notices
* Support contractor liaison, progress monitoring and cashflow forecasting
* Conduct snagging, de-snagging and assist with handover processes
* Contribute to risk registers and project programmes
Client Liaison
* Communicate clearly with Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Developers and public-sector stakeholders
* Maintain strong professional relationships and provide timely updates
Experience & Qualifications
* Degree in Building Surveying or similar
* 2–5 years’ Building Surveying experience
* Strong understanding of building pathology, regulations and JCT contracts
* Experience in residential or public-sector projects
* Familiarity with refurbishment, regeneration or remediation projects (desirable)
* Full UK driving licence
