RPS is actively seeking a Sample Logistics Manager to support our Laboratory team in Bedford on a full-time, permanent basis.
About The Team
RPS Laboratories comprises Analysts, Chemists, and Technicians operating in purpose-built facilities, renowned for providing expert advice and analytical solutions to the agrochemical sector. Our labs are recognized internationally for solving complex analytical problems across food, feed, and forage crops.
We have state-of-the-art laboratories in Bedford and Manchester, with our Bedford lab being among the first in the UK to gain UKAS accreditation for PFAS chemical analysis.
About You
Your role as a Sample Logistics Manager is vital in helping us conduct investigations and develop solutions to ensure compliance with international standards, MRLs, and environmental regulations. You will collaborate with clients to design tailored analytical programs, leveraging advanced instrumentation, and provide analytical support during remediation and routine monitoring.
Your Responsibilities
* Manage the Logistics Team daily to ensure smooth operations and on-time, quality delivery.
* Monitor KPIs, address challenges, and communicate insights to Senior Management.
* Communicate resource needs and assist in developing annual budgets.
* Manage Customer Experience by resolving issues and maintaining high service quality.
* Oversee work area maintenance, team training, and competence.
* Review NWRs, lead investigations, and implement process improvements.
* Coordinate with teams and clients for troubleshooting and timely delivery.
* Ensure container requirements and chain of custody documents are accurate and linked to LIMS.
* Manage logistics and sampling schedules with clients and team.
* Ensure security and H&S measures are in place, vehicle inspections are performed, and temperature logs are maintained.
* Guarantee 100% on-time sample collection and maintain inventory of consumables.
Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
* Interest in science, preferably with relevant qualifications.
* Experience in fast-paced environments is desirable.
* Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good time management.
* Laboratory experience and LIMS familiarity are advantageous.
