Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Streatham area of Lambeth is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a pupil with Down's Syndrome.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role is part-time, working three days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful and consistent impact on a child's learning, development and daily school experience.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff to ensure the pupil is fully included in classroom activities and receives tailored support to meet their individual needs.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with Down's Syndrome
Support access to learning across a mainstream classroom setting
Assist with communication, social development and engagement
Provide intimate care support where required
Help promote independence, confidence and wellbeing throughout the school day
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience working with children with additional needs (SEN experience desirable)
Is calm, patient and compassionate
Is confident providing personal and intimate care support
Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Works well as part of a supportive school teamExperience in a similar SEN or care-based role would be highly beneficial for this SEN Teaching Assistant position.
