Job Description
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality, person-centered care to elderly residents, while taking a supervisory role in leading and supporting care staff on shift. The Senior Care Assistant ensures that residents' physical, emotional, and social needs are met with dignity and compassion, and contributes to the smooth day-to-day running of the care home.
Key Responsibilities:Care Delivery
* Deliver high standards of personal and practical care in line with individual care plans.
* Support residents with daily living activities, including mobility, hygiene, dressing, eating, and medication.Build positive relationships with residents, families, and professionals to enhance wellbeing and trust.
Leadership and Support
* Act as a role model for junior care staff, offering guidance, support, and direction.
* Take responsibility for leading shifts and ensuring smooth handovers.
* Assist with training and mentoring new or junior staff to ensure consistent standards of care.
Medication Administration
* Safely administer, store, and record medications as per policy and training.
* Report any medication discrepancies or issues promptly.
Person Specification:Essential:
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum)
* Experience in a care environment, ideally with older people
* Willingness to undertake medication administration training
* Ability to lead by example and support others
* Compassionate, respectful, and person-centered approach
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team
Desirable:
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards it)
* Previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant or shift leader
* Medication administration experience
