Nursing Associate - District Nursing
The closing date is 04 May 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Nursing Associate to join the Adult Community Nursing Team, based at Walkden, working flexibly over a seven‑day period of cover 08:00‑18:00 hours. Newly qualified nurses are encouraged to apply.
You should have excellent communication skills as this role is key working within the integrated neighbourhood team of co‑located health and social care teams.
Main Duties of the Job
You will undertake specific patient care within the District Nursing Team as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
You will work as part of the clinical team involved in the planning, developing and evaluation of programmes of care to the practice population and will carry out clinical skills using evidence‑based practice and under the support/direction of the registered professional in their area of work.
You will also undertake a range of duties which involve direct service users, with or without direct supervision, instructed by the registered team members.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this role.
Qualifications and Skills
* Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register.
* Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalation to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
* Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans.
* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
* Understanding of NMC professional Revalidation requirements.
* Knowledge of community working.
* Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
* Ability to deal with non‑routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
* Effective communication skills (written, verbal and non‑verbal) with patients, relatives, carers and all members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Effective time‑management skills and prioritisation.
* Maintain high standards of quality in corporate and clinical record keeping, ensuring information is recorded accurately, appropriately and kept up to date.
* Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
* Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.
* Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.
* Positive approach to work, capacity to work with colleagues at all levels, open‑minded, treating colleagues and the general public with dignity and respect, compassionate and caring.
Education
* Foundation Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
* GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4‑9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or equivalent.
