WELLBEING ASSISTANT – SEN SPECIALIST SCHOOL- EMSWORTH
Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate, proactive and resilient Wellbeing Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Emsworth. This is a deeply rewarding role supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working closely with the Wellbeing Manager to deliver targeted interventions that help pupils feel safe, understood and able to thrive.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in pastoral support, safeguarding, family liaison or SEMH‑focused work who is confident building relationships and coordinating support around vulnerable pupils.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups with conflict resolution, friendship issues, anger management, bereavement, stress, anxiety and emotional wellbeing
2. Using self‑help and mindfulness‑based strategies to help pupils manage emotions and build resilience
3. Liaising with parents, offering guidance, responding to concerns and signposting to internal or external support
4. Chairing parent meetings and conducting home visits where appropriate
5. Working confidently with local agencies and understanding multi‑agency roles and responsibilities
6. Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, staying up to date with KCSIE and safeguarding legislation
7. Supporting attendance alongside the Attendance Officer
8. Assisting with transition for new pupils and liaising with families and feeder schools
9. Using CPOMS/SIMS and maintaining accurate safeguarding and wellbeing records
10. Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them communicate challenges and develop self‑confidence
11. Assessing SEMH needs and coordinating appropriate support or referrals
12. Referring pupils/families to Early Help, CAMHS, MASH, Catch 22, No Limits, Simon Says, YCP, Motive8 and other relevant agencies
13. Attending Child Protection, CIN and Early Help meetings as required
14. Coordinating wellbeing activities such as parent coffee mornings

18. Contract: Full‑time, long‑term with potential for permanent opportunities
19. Hours: 08:30 – 15:30
20. Pay: From £21,000 per year
Requirements
21. Right to Work in the UK
22. Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
23. Professional references covering the last 24 months
24. Experience in SEMH, safeguarding, pastoral support or family liaison
25. Understanding of multi‑agency working and safeguarding procedures
