Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: Burton - Upon Trent Salary: Up to £40,000 package Sector: Residential / New Build Housing Role Overview We are working with a well-established Tier 2 main contractor who is looking to bring an Assistant Quantity Surveyor into their commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a few years' experience in the construction industry to gain hands-on exposure to Retail projects and develop under the guidance of a supportive senior team. You'll be involved in all commercial aspects of the projects, assisting with cost control, subcontractor management, procurement, and reporting. Key Responsibilities Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and tender documents. Assist with the evaluation and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers. Help manage subcontractor accounts, including measurements, valuations, and variations. Assist in the preparation of monthly cost/value reconciliations and project forecasts. Ensure that procurement and commercial processes are followed and documented correctly. Support the team with contract administration and preparation of final accounts. Work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and the site team to monitor site progress and financial performance. Requirements Experience: 1-3 years' experience working as an Assistant or Trainee Quantity Surveyor. Experience within the residential sector or general contracting is desirable. Skills & Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction contracts (JCT). Strong numerical and analytical skills. Good communication and organizational abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems. Qualifications: HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a similar field. Keen to progress towards a professional qualification (e.g. RICS or CIOB). What's on Offer Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.
