Job Summary
The role of a Field Services Engineer is to diagnose and repair technical issues on a variety of IT equipment including but not limited to PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and point of sales systems at various customer locations around Peterborough. Additionally, the engineer will provide IT Hardware Support, including installs, moves, and changes across client sites.
Salary and Benefits
* Base salary between £27,000 to £29,000 (depending on experience), along with a company car and fuel card.
* On-call allowance of £44/night or £308/week plus overtime if called out at 1.5x rate.
Key Responsibilities
* Travel to various customer sites to provide IT support services as per contractual requirements.
* Support a range of IT equipment including PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and POS systems.
* Perform on-site installations and troubleshooting of hardware and software products.
* Obtain and maintain vendor certifications as required by CDW.
* Follow documented procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.
* Adhere to safety and ESD precautions.
* Complete documentation and provide timely updates after each site visit.
* Participate in on-call rotations, including mornings, evenings, and weekends (with allowances).
* Support wider teams within the department.
* Work overtime when necessary to meet contractual needs, with overtime rates applying.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Experience with installing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware devices such as PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, and peripherals.
* Ability to install and configure software as per customer requirements.
* Relevant vendor certifications (e.g., Dell, Lenovo, IBM, HP).
* Good understanding of hardware maintenance and break-fix procedures.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability to obtain UK security clearances (SC, NPPV3) as required.
* Attention to detail and quality focus.
* Ability to work independently and remotely.
* Methodical approach with a right-first-time mindset.
* Proactive, professional attitude with a ‘can-do’ spirit.
* Results-oriented with a history of exceeding goals.
* Physical capability to carry IT equipment and work in tight or awkward spaces.
