Sunderland City Council are seeking to recruit a Highway Design and Infrastructure Manager within our Infrastructure and Transport service, as part of the Economy & Place Directorate.
This is an exciting post that will play a strategic role in delivering a range of highway and infrastructure projects to meet the city's growing ambitions and regeneration. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join our senior leadership team and provide clear strategic management and operational leadership.
You will be the strategic lead for the Highway Design and Infrastructure team, responsible for highway design and maintenance, structures, coastal and flood defence.
You will support the Assistant Director of Infrastructure and Transport to shape and deliver the service areas above, operating within the values, principles and strategic vision of the Council and supporting delivery of the City Plan.
You will be working closely with a wide range of partners both internal and external, at both regional and local levels, acting as the Council's lead expert in the management and operational aspects of your service area.
The position will deputise for the Assistant Director as and when required. This position is politically restricted.
Sunderland City Council is going through a period of positive development and transformation, whilst the city itself is undergoing large scale regeneration and development. It is a great time to join and drive change, at the same time as witnessing and engaging with what will be a thriving city.
