Overview
As a Senior DCT, you will have a shared responsibility in the delivery of the contracted services and projects within customer Data Centres and remote Technical Equipment Rooms. You will be accountable for the completion and refinement of activities on the operational checklists, referencing and updating documentation and procedures. You are required to undertake and maintain ITIL functions such as Incident, Change, Problem and Service Management You will oversee, train, and approve the work of junior team members and third parties, particularly regarding project installs, power, and network cabling. You will be required to undertake duties across any customer or third-party location within the UK in-line with your competency and the Serverfarm portfolio offerings, including being available on call to attend site at short notice and within 1 hour when required.
Your role will be to deliver a range of services for the Data Centre Services (DCS) team, including (but not limited to):
• Providing security within customer Data Centres and Technical Equipment Rooms.
• Aligning to and undertaking customer ITIL Functions, such as Change and Incident.
• Inputting into data centre management systems and ensuring accuracy and completeness of data to enable space, power and network management and reporting.
• Supervising; third parties, customers, peers, and subordinates.
• Operating within defined Service Level Agreements (SLA)
• Leading IT equipment moves, installations, removals, and patching.
• Working with third party suppliers to ensure best practice and efficiency.
• Undertaking Health & Safety audits and risk reporting, ensuring personal care.
• Carrying out IT asset audits and maintaining database accuracy.
• Maintaining and developing initiatives to increase service availability across all sites.
• Aligning with, adhering to, and improving documented process in line with ISO27001.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Take responsible for the availability and security of the customer Data Centres and the IT services housed within them.
2. Undertake duties as defined on the Operations Checklist.
3. Monitor and perform regular checks to ensure quality, safety, and alignment with contracted obligations.
4. Deputise for or assist Operations and Data Centre Managers where required and available.
5. Create, maintain, and adhere to documented procedures, ISO 27001, best practices, checklists and be held responsible for your work.
6. Make sure all works are recorded correctly in line with documented process.
7. Ensure all activities are delivered in line with SLA’s and project resource plans.
8. Undertake activities in compliance with the contracted obligations.
9. Carry out varied tasks, including IT installs and removals, installation of fibre and copper structured and patch cabling, device and cable labelling, stock checking and reordering as directed.
10. Ensure all IT physical changes comply with our documented standards, with associated photographic evidence and are auditable.
11. Promote a culture of safety first within the business and ensure your work aligns with the Serverfarm H&S policy, including CDM & RAMS
12. Review and scrutinise third party RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) where required.
13. Ensure you and other engineers have the correct tools to complete tasks.
14. Lead transformation projects, such as relocation of IT equipment, decommissioning & complex IMAC’s.
15. Provide help and guidance to DCT’s and other staff on IT processes, procedures, and standards.
16. Comply with the Serverfarm escalation process and triggers.
17. Identify and document initiatives and service improvements using the document review process to gain approval from managers.
18. Take responsibility for Serverfarm assets, resources and consumables, ensuring security, tidiness, cleanliness and correct stock levels.
19. Understand the customer / supplier relationships within our contracts and be conscious of them when representing Serverfarm in customer and supplier forums where required.
20. Operate in a lean manner with a can-do attitude and focus on solutions and not problems.
21. Available on-call and to attend site at short notice.
Your Profile:
1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Data Centre with proven success in delivering customer requirements in a critical technology environment.
2. Can work from a complex High-Level Design (HLD) or Patching Schedule unsupervised.
3. Experience in using StruxureWare DCE/DCO & TrackIT toolsets, would be beneficial.
4. Working additional hours or on call may be required in this role.
5. Evidence of self-management and alignment with ever-changing priorities.
6. Proven ability to undertake and manage tasks to tight deadlines with confidence, working alone or as part of a team.
7. Demonstrable desire to proactively meet and exceed customer expectations.
8. Proven understanding of security measures, risks, and enhancements.
9. Able to articulate an ability to develop and maintain productive and fruitful relationships with peers, managers, and customers.
10. Evidence of good written and oral communication skills, tenacity and working to a high level of accuracy.
11. Able to present information clearly, with effective results using various techniques including MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel and messaging tools such as Outlook and Teams.
12. A track record of good teamwork, leadership and influencing others to support your ideas and improvement initiatives.
13. Proficient in the use of testing equipment, including OTDR and Fluke.
14. Understand the basic elements of IT network architecture, including the range of cable types, ancillary networking devices and installation practices.
15. In depth understanding of Health and Safety with an awareness of The Health and Safety at work Act.
16. Good operational understanding of Data Centres and IT environments.
17. GCSE level passes in Mathematics and English.
Would be desirable:
o Experience of managing projects including financial and resource elements
o Exposure to contracts operating in multi premises.
o Experience of working with Customers who provide critical National Infrastructure
o Staff supervision, training and mentoring, Personal Development Reviews.

Security Clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements. Salary range: £20,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience)
