We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children Support Worker to join a specialist SEN school in Bolton supporting children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). As a Children Support Worker you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support for students with these specific needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the class teacher in delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with LD and EBD, acting as a Children Support Worker in one‑on‑one and small group support.
* Provide support with behaviour management, using de‑escalation techniques and reinforcing positive behaviour strategies to help children manage their emotions and reactions.
* Help create a calm, structured classroom environment that encourages learning and supports students with additional needs.
* Support children with LD and EBD in developing social and communication skills, promoting inclusion and positive peer relationships.
* Assist in monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher on how interventions are impacting student learning and behaviour.
Essential Criteria
* Previous experience working as a Children Support Worker with students with LD and EBD.
* A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of LD and EBD needs, with the ability to implement strategies to support academic and emotional development.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
* A patient, empathetic approach to working with children who require additional support, with a genuine passion for their learning and wellbeing.
