Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Spinal Deformity Service for a band 7 lead Spinal Deformity Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities for the post holder include:
* Supporting both adult and paediatric patients through spinal deformity surgery
* Pre-assessment of paediatric spinal deformity patients and ensuring pre-optimisation for surgery to ensure the best outcome.
* Nurse-led clinics including telephone clinics
* Orthotic brace clinics
* Providing specialist education to nurses and allied healthcare professionals involved with the care of spinal deformity patients
* Contributing to and provide specialist nursing input to MDT meetings including discussions about patients with complex medical / care needs

Person Specification
Knowledge, skills, training and experience
* Minimum of 3 years post registration experience with at least 1 year in a leadership role
* Speciality knowledge relating to spinal deformity
* Experience of working with both adults and children
* Physical / health assessment
* Non-medical prescribing
Education and qualifications
* Current nursing registration with the NMC
* Degree or evidence of degree level study
* Mentorship course or equivalent
* Adult and Paediatric trained nurse
* Evidence of Masters / level 7 study
