The purpose of this role is to promote the mental health of parents of children and young people open
to the teams in the Family and Youth Resilience Service and across AfC. You will work closely with
colleagues in Children’s Social Care, Adolescent Safeguarding and Emotional Health Service (CAMHS
Tier 2). The aim is to provide consultation and undertake specialist psychological assessments of cases
with complex presentations, plan and deliver a range of psychological interventions for the parents,
drawing on a range of possible brief interventions.
The role will involve the delivery of specialist clinical / counselling psychology with clinical autonomy,
delivering evidence based therapeutic interventions. The post holder will be required to monitor and
evaluate the effectiveness of work undertaken and demonstrate professional accountability at all times.
They will provide clinical supervision to counselling psychologists, trainees, adult mental health
specialists and family coaches if required, including line management and be flexible and able to be
deployed in commensurate post across AfC in line with business need.
