FTM Dance is a Performing Arts respite and day service for children and adults with additional needs, disabilities and medical conditions, aged 5 years old and above. FTM Dance provides performing arts and creative art related activities, sessions and workshops for individuals with a range of complex needs such as: Sensory Processing Disorder, ASD, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Behaviours that challenge and other clinical needs such as: Tracheostomy care; Nasal-gastronomy care; Gastronomy care with use of PEG; and intermittent catheterisation.
The successful candidate will plan and deliver the daily sessions. They will also hold responsibility to train the current facilitator team and ensure that they are able to confidently deliver the sessions to a good standard. They will facilitate and support individuals to access our sessions and activities. They will provide our service users with high-quality support and care in line with FTM Dance’s values: creative, caring and person centred
Working Hours (full time working 10 days in 14):
Week 1 Working Pattern

2. Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun
All shifts: 8:30am – 4.30pm
The above pattern is negotiable, but alternative weekends and school holiday availability are essential to the role.
Daily tasks expected of the successful Creativity Teacher could include, but are not limited to:
3. To plan all creative content that is to be delivered at FTM Dance in line with a chosen theme
4. To work with the existing facilitator team and create and deliver session plans that are engaging and suitable for the individuals that attend the service(s)
5. To monitor and maintain stock levels for all materials used in the daily sessions
6. To assist with annual performances and shows including pantomime
7. Working alongside all company policies and procedures as set out in the employee handbook and contract of employment
8. Supporting and encouraging individuals to access FTM Dance sessions and activities
9. Supporting individuals in their independence, choices, communication, positive relationships and participation, through encouragement and creative thinking
10. Supporting individuals in their personal care tasks, medication(s) and other essential daily routines such as toileting and fluid/nutritional needs
11. Supporting individuals with their health-need related tasks, such as gastrostomy, emergency medication and respiratory care etc.
12. Supporting individuals in their times of need, including when in crisis, where verbal de-escalation and positive handling intervention is necessary and proportionate to the situation.
13. General cleaning duties are expected as part of the role. This could include (but not limited to): hoovering, mopping, discarding of waste, cleaning surfaces, clearing up spillages etc.
14. Other general tasks that may be required for the smooth running of the service.
15. Being responsible for maintaining an up-to-date subject knowledge by attending and completing all mandatory training as and when set by FTM Dance.
16. Supporting management at the end of the day to ensure all daily notes are accurate and well-written ready to be sent home for parents/guardians/professionals to read
17. To assist where necessary, in the planning and production of all FTM Dance annual shows
18. To work with the existing facilitator team to create and deliver session plans that are engaging and suitable for the individuals that attend the service(s)
19. To monitor and maintain stock levels for all materials used in the daily sessions
20. To manage an annual ‘supplies budget’ to cover the cost of the sessions
21. To assist the management team with daily medication administration
22. To support the management team in other crucial areas required to maintain the smooth running of the business
23. Applicants should have Qualified Teacher Status*
24. Applicants should have a passion for the performing arts and a proven record of delivering performing arts sessions – Dance being the preferred medium*
25. Applicants will be preferred to have, a relevant Performing arts teaching qualification and/or Health and Social Care or Childcare qualification (e.g. Health and Social Care Level 2/3).*
26. The Creativity Teacher should have at least 1 year of teaching experience in the performing arts (preferably dance) and social care or childcare setting.
