North Tees & Hartlepool Solutions provides a range of Estates, Facilities, Supplies and Procurement services to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The company is a separate legal body to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will be an employee of the subsidiary and not the NHS.

Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a self motivated, I.T. literate craftsperson with excellent Mechanical Plumbing and Engineering knowledge to join the estates team. The post holder will be responsible for fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment. The day to day duties will include planned preventative maintenance, general repairs, Energy Centre checks and responding to high priority emergencies to ensure continuity of service in a vibrant busy hospital. Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
Operational responsibilities
* To work in accordance with the requirements of decontamination CFPP01 (HTM 2010/2030), HTM04 Water Supplies
* To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
* To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes.
* Actively participate in the operation of the NHS labour control scheme (Planet) by working within the scheme including completion of all required documentation in paper and electronic PDA format
* Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management
* Undertake on-call / shift duties as part of the team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to.

Carry out maintenance tasks without causing risk or inconvenience to patients, staff and visitors. Provide a safe and secure and pleasing environment for patients, staff and visitors in a busy acute hospital. Completing all tasks to an accepted high standard within budgetary and time constraints.

Qualifications
* • BTEC, ONC and HNC mechanical engineering. NVQ 3 in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
* • Adequate knowledge of and within the proceeding three years training for, first aid treatment for electric shock.
* • Sterilizer (Porous Load) maintenance and testing to quarterly EN285
* Medical gas pipelines Water supply regs.
Experience
* Completion of a structured training program in mechanical engineering for a minimum period of 4 years.
* 2 years site experience.
* Knowledge of low pressure hot water systems, steam raising plant, pneumatic systems and hydraulics
* Experience in working in an Acute Hospital environment.
