START are recruiting for additional Recovery Workers. Job Title: Recovery Worker Location: Salford Employer: START (Salford Neighbourhood Mental Health Service and Listening Lounge) Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with flexibility required) Salary: £28,547 per annum Contract Type: Permanent Pension: 5% employer contribution Annual Leave: 28 days plus statutory holidays Job Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2x Recovery Workers to join START, working across both the Living Well Team and the Listening Lounge as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary mental health service in Salford. This is a cross-service role requiring a flexible and responsive approach. The post holder will be expected to work across both services in line with operational need, delivering both planned, recovery-focused support and responsive, crisis-based interventions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, adaptability and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care within both structured and fast-paced environments. Main Duties of the Job Core Responsibilities Provide face-to-face and telephone support to individuals, carers, and professionals Communicate with empathy and compassion, recognising strengths, resilience, and potential Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality records using electronic systems Empower individuals to take an active role in managing their wellbeing Develop effective working relationships with individuals, families, and carers Participate in MDT processes, including daily huddles, case discussions, and risk reviews Undertake home visits in line with service protocols and risk assessments Co-produce personalised support and action plans focused on meaningful outcomes Act as a gateway to wider support services, including statutory and VCSE provision Contribute to service evaluation, audit, and continuous improvement activity Living Well Responsibilities Act as a keyworker, supporting individuals through recovery-focused interventions Undertake joint assessments and shared casework within the multidisciplinary team Support care planning using tools such as ReQoL and DIALOG Deliver evidence-informed interventions (e.g. behavioural activation, anxiety management) Support individuals to access employment, education, and community opportunities Identify and address barriers to recovery, promoting independence and social inclusion Listening Lounge Responsibilities Provide immediate, non-judgemental support to individuals in self-defined crisis Use active listening and validation to de-escalate distress and build trust Deliver brief, one-off interventions and recovery-focused support Complete dynamic risk assessments and escalate concerns appropriately Develop collaborative safety plans where required Work jointly with Peer Support Workers to deliver high-quality support Facilitate onward referrals and promote access to community-based services Additional Information This is a unique opportunity to work across two innovative services, supporting individuals at different stages of their mental health journey - from early intervention and recovery through to crisis support.
