Job Title: Commercial Finance Analyst
Location: Basingstoke (Hybrid)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
Fully Qualified/Newly Qualified
Overview -
This role will work closely with key stakeholders to provide financial insight, drive performance and deliver accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will be confident in business partnering, comfortable challenging assumptions and experienced in month-end processes and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities -
Business Partnering
* Build strong, trusted relationships with operational, commercial and leadership teams.
* Provide insightful financial guidance to non-finance stakeholders, supporting decision-making and performance improvement.
* Translate complex financial data into clear actionable recommendations.
* Attend regular business reviews, challenging assumptions and highlighting risks/opportunities.
* Support forecasting and budgeting cycles by collaborating with departments to collect, analyse and validate assumptions.
Financial Analysis
* Deliver regular and ad-hoc commercial analysis, including margin analysis, customer profitability, pricing reviews and trend reporting.
* Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning and scenario modelling.
* Monitor KPIs, identifying variances and drivers and presenting meaningful insights.
* Review commercial performance and initiate improvement recommendations.
* Support preparation of board and senior management reporting packs.
Month-End & Reporting
* Lead or support month-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Prepare journals, accruals and reconciliations as required.
* Analyse actuals vs forecast/budget and produce commentary on key movements.
* Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data within reporting systems.
* Partner with finance teams to streamline month-end processes and improve reporting efficiency.
Skills & Experience
* Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
* Strong commercial acumen with experience in a similar analytical or business partnering role.
* Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI/reporting tools.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle large data sets and extract meaningful insights.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
