The Role
Due to our ongoing growth we are currently recruiting for a driven and professional Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in Birmingham.
We have development opportunities working in a 4 person commercial team delivering a number of projects ranging from £500k to £10million. These are planned and projects works with potential to deliver small new build sites.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support to senior surveying staff on one or a number of projects to ensure that projects are procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding our customers’ expectations.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will assist in accurately valuing, certifying, and issuing any relevant payment notices for the subcontract works in accordance with the conditions of their subcontract. Ensure that external valuations are submitted in accordance with conditions of the main contract and that payments are received by the due date. Complete CVC reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the current position on site and the final profit projection.
An Assistant Quantity Surveyor will provided with training and full support.
The Project
Assistant Quantity Surveyor duties and responsibilities will include the following:
• Understand the company values and procedures internally and externally.
• Proactively contribute to the team
• Responsible for the application schedule of rates for contractual arrangements.
• Work with the team to maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, the implementation of appropriate procedures to resolve client queries and ensuring cash is received when due.
• Identify potential disputes in a timely manner and report to line manager.
• Place supply chain orders in accordance with the procurement schedule
• Ensure sub-contractor orders accurately reflect the main contract requirements.
• Accurately value, certify and issue any relevant payment notices for the subcontract works in accordance with their conditions of subcontract.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential and Desirable Criteria The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
Essential criteria:
• Good level of education to include 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, A levels
• Excellent numeracy and organisation skills
• Use data interrogation skills.
• Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
Desired criteria:
• QS degree or working towards obtaining one
• Base understanding of contract law
• Working towards construction related degree.
• Good communication skills at all levels
• Playing an active role which positively contributes to a team.
• Demonstrating an effective system of managing priorities
