Offer description

Summary

In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy.

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

What it's like to work here

You’ll be reporting to the Visitor Experience Manager.

Rowallane Garden is one of the most beautiful in Northern Ireland featuring unsual plants, seasonal colour palettes and many striking features. Carved into the County Down landscape, Rowallane Garden has grown from its 19th-century beginnings at the hands of Reverend John Moore and his nephew Hugh Armytage Moore. Their vision to create a place where visitors can leave the world behind and immerse themselves in nature lives on and influences the ongoing conservation work in the garden.

Rowallane Garden is ideal for leisurely walks, quick refreshments in the café or simply relaxing in nature.

Rowallane Garden is a part of the County Down Property Group which includes Mount Stewart and Castle Ward. Over 150 staff members and 350 volunteers across County Down have a shared sense of purpose in caring for these wonderful places together, providing a wide range of public benefit to our visitors and local communities.

Last year we welcomed nearly half a million visitors across all three sites and have ambitions to grow our appeal further.

What you'll be doing

As Visitor Experience Officer you will support the delivery of high-quality and engaging visitor experiences. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays that bring the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You will provide a great service for all visitors and with your team, welcoming people and inspiring them to connect with Rowallane Garden.

The role will be integral to connecting new audiences to Rowallane Garden through experiences and developing new external partnerships to help us grow our offer. There may be some budgetary support required and an understanding of using audience insights when creating experiences.

You might be supervising and supporting volunteers, organising rotas or undertaking duty management responsibilities. This is an exciting role that will require organisational skills, experience development creation, delivery of events and partnership working. It is a varied role that will be fundamental to connecting and inspiring visitors to Rowallane Garden.
