We are recruiting for a Radiology Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Radiology Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner will participate as a member of the nursing team in providing a high standard of research-based patient care within the Radiology Department.
The post holder will provide advice and support to the team of staff working in all interventional areas including Admission and Recovery in order to deliver a quality service that is linked to high standard of patient care.
Working hours 8:00am – 18:00pm with an on-call element 18:00pm – 21:00pm.
The post holder will take charge of nursing in the absence of the Senior Sister or Sister/Charge Nurse.

Main duties of the job
Undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies.
Adhere to the Ionising Radiation, Medical Exposures Regulations (IR (ME) R, 2000 which includes the wearing of Lead Protective clothing.
Maintain good communication links with patients, relatives, members of the multi-disciplinary team and all departments and wards for elective and emergency patients.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote good communication and approach to patient care. Visit inpatients to explain procedures and to give information to patients and ward/medical staff. Ring patients to pre-assess prior to admission.
At all times act as the patents’ advocate.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records using appropriate nursing documents.

Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse on part 1, part 2 or part 12 of the NMC register
* Commitment to lifelong learning
* Evidence of further education, training and on-going learning
* Ability to produce updated personal professional portfolio
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of Assessing and Mentorship qualification
* Evidence of appropriate Specialist Qualification
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
* Post registration experience
* Working in an acute surgical setting/operating theatres/endoscopy
* Recovery and assessment skills

* Procedural experience in areas such as operating theatres or Endoscopy
