Offer description

Project Delivery Manager Pertemps Network Group Meriden, West Midlands | Office based | Full-time

We need a Project Delivery Manager who leads from the front. Someone who personally delivers the complex projects, leads a team of PMs, BAs, and Trainers, and builds the governance and structure that a maturing delivery function needs. Reporting directly to the Group IT Director.

The role

You personally lead and deliver the larger projects across software builds, SaaS implementations, business change, and data migrations. You lead a team of 4-7 including Project Managers, Business Analysts, and IT Trainers. You own the project finances, demand prioritisation, and introduction to service into BAU. Microsoft stack, Azure DevOps for delivery management.

This is a fast-paced environment going through technology and business transformation. Priorities shift. Scope changes. Projects pivot. You need to be comfortable with that and able to replan without losing momentum or control.

What you must bring

* Proven personal delivery of complex technology projects across at least two of: software development, SaaS implementation, business change, and data migration.
* Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts. Not just allocating work. Actively improving their capability through practical guidance, ticket reviews, and structured development.
* Strong financial management. You have owned project budgets, tracked spend against forecast, reported financial position to senior leadership, and improved estimation accuracy across a team.
* Practical, working experience of Azure DevOps for project planning, backlog management, sprint tracking, and delivery reporting. Not just awareness.
* Experience of both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies with the judgement to select the right approach for each project rather than applying the same method to everything.
* The ability to pivot. When scope changes, priorities shift, or a project needs replanning mid-flight, you adapt quickly, communicate clearly, and keep delivering. Rigid adherence to a plan that no longer reflects reality is not governance. It is a problem.
* Experience managing third-party vendor delivery alongside internal work. Holding external teams to the same scope, quality, and timeline standards as your own. Not allowing vendors to dictate pace.
* Experience contributing to business cases before project approval. Providing realistic estimates of effort, cost, and risk. Challenging proposals that are under-scoped or unrealistic before they get committed to.
* Experience managing portfolio demand and capacity. When the business asks for more than the team can deliver, you present the trade-offs and options to senior leadership rather than absorbing unrealistic commitments.
* Experience introducing or improving project governance in an environment where maturity is still developing. Bringing structure proportionately, not implementing a framework that creates overhead without value.
* Experience integrating change management, training, and user adoption into the delivery lifecycle. A project is not done when the code is deployed. It is done when the support function has accepted the handover and users are using it.
* Strong coaching ability. You invest in making your PMs, BAs, and Trainers better at their jobs through direct, practical feedback rather than just process enforcement.

Also valuable

* Experience in the recruitment or staffing sector.
* PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, or an agile certification (PSM, CSM, SAFe).
* Experience with Dynamics 365 or CRM implementation projects.
* Experience of structured introduction to service or service transition processes.
* Experience conducting post-implementation reviews to assess whether delivered projects achieved their intended business value.
