About theRole
The Paymentsand Innovation Manager will work as asenior policy advisor on all issues relating to European andinternational payments and associated regulatoryengagement.
This person will work with andsupport Payments members to identify and manage activity on keyregulatory and policy issues coordinating the outwardfacing liaisonwith international stakeholders (European Payments Council EuropeanRetail Payments Board European Banking Federation InternationalBanking Federation Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructure)and feeding this back where appropriate to UK bodies including theFCA and HMTreasury.
Responsibilities:
* Managingthe senior member committee the InternationalPayments Engagement Policy Committee which acts as a nonbindingvehicle for strategic advice on the collaborativeaspects of international payments and contributestowards the development of broader paymentspolicy informing the work and role of the PaymentsProduct and Services Board (PPSB).
* Managing theEuropean Payments Working Group to build positions on key Europeanpolicy developments and identify where UK industry would benefitfrom aligning/diverging from European payments policy. Overseeingthe UKs continued membership of SEPA through close coordinationwith members and the European Payments Council(EPC).
* Working in partnership with members ofthe payments team across a broad range of strategic issues relevantto international payments.
* Jointly managingrelationships with trade associations in the EU and internationallyfor payments and personal banking including the European BankingFederation (EBF) European Payments Council (EPC) European CardPayment Association (ECPA) and International Banking Federation(IBFed).
* Jointly managing relationship with keyregulators across the payments and innovation agenda acting as atechnical expert including with HM Treasury the Financial ConductAuthority (FCA) and Payment Systems Regulator(PSR).
* Engage closely with and supportcolleagues and groups working on crosscutting projects/workstreamson a number of issues across payments digital data economic crimeand Brexit.
* Provide members with relevantmarket and regulatory insights to inform their own businessplanning.
* Responsibility for preparingconsultation responses Committee and Board papers and communicatingwith senior level representatives internally andexternally.
* Modelling the visions and values ofthecompany.
Requirements:
* Knowledgeof the European ecosystem and international public policylandscape.
* Knowledge and experience of thepayments sector demonstrating an understandingof:
o the challenges faced by members in runningtheir businesses including the needs of members customers andclients
o the needs of regulators andauthorities
o the international dimension ofpayments and particularly how the UK engages with Europe inpayments
* Understanding ofthe wider payments landscape including card and interbank paymentsand where the key policy issues intersectinternationally.
* Capable of acting as a subjectmatter expert and credibly representing the company externally withspeeches webinars conference panels Chatham House discussions andpotentially the media.
* Project managementexperience is desirable to ensure effective design and running ofprojects and workstreams including excellent management of internaland external stakeholders.
* Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills together with the ability toeffectively manage complex stakeholderrelationships.
* Ability to identify commercialopportunities and work collaboratively to realisethem.
