Marston’s Press Officer and Social Media Manager
We are excited to announce a newly created position within Marston’s in-house Corporate Affairs team. As the Press Officer and Social Media Manager, you will play a key role in managing the Group's reputation while amplifying positive news externally, supporting our strategy to make Marston’s the UK's leading local pub company.
This role offers flexibility, with a minimum of one day per week at our modern head offices in Wolverhampton, combined with home working and remote work at our local pubs.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Marston’s press office inbox, ensuring requests are handled or directed appropriately.
2. Lead local PR initiatives and support national media campaigns in collaboration with external PR agencies.
3. Draft press releases, case studies, and assets for regulatory reporting and owned channels to promote positive news.
4. Develop and execute content plans for Marston’s LinkedIn account to increase followers, engagement, and reach, focusing on attracting talent and investors.
5. Monitor social media platforms for positive PR stories and reputational risks.
6. Support crisis management efforts with the Director of Corporate Affairs and external agencies.
7. Stay informed on industry trends and prepare briefing notes and Q&As for media opportunities.
8. Secure positive media coverage to enhance Marston’s public image.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong journalistic skills for clear, engaging content creation.
* Media relations experience and knowledge of media outlets and PR practices.
* Event planning and management skills.
* Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Understanding of the pub industry and customer base.
* Relationship-building skills with journalists and stakeholders.
