Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Cancer Information team. The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week) and focuses on team building, service transformation, and leadership of the Cancer Information team. The leader will provide day‑to‑day leadership and line management of the deputy information nurse, working collaboratively within Dimbleby Cancer Care and the wider Guy’s Cancer team to offer personalised care to patients, families and carers. The post is based at Guy’s Cancer Centre and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, and operates Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day leadership and line management of the deputy information nurse.
* Act as an independent clinical resource for patients, carers and health‑care professionals, working autonomously.
* Manage patient queries through drop‑in, phone and email services.
* Deliver clinical leadership and management support to the Cancer Information team, facilitating team development and maintaining visible leadership across both sites.
* Support delivery of the HOPE course and other supportive options for patients at the end of treatment, including “Living with and beyond Cancer.”
* Carry out information assessments and holistic assessment of patient needs.
* Signpost and refer patients to support services within and outside the Trust according to individual needs.
* Participate in meetings, training and development activities to demonstrate leadership on both sites.
Qualifications and Skills
* Solid understanding of cancer care and best practice in information and psychological support services.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to assess and meet patient information needs holistically.
* Experience or strong interest in leadership development and management of a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across multiple sites.
