Automation Engineer
Role: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Fawdon, Newcastle upon Tyne

The Role:
The Automation engineer will be part of the on-site manufacturing operational team, producing and packing to world class Pharmaceutical standards.
As part of the engineering team, the role will be responsible for the support of the sites control and automation platforms comprising of both new and legacy systems, while also developing appropriate strategies for the replacement of legacy systems.
•SME on new control proposed control systems for new equipment and facilities.
•Commissioning and qualification of new control systems or changes to existing.
•Maintain critical backups and archives of all relevant programs and data.
•Diagnose and solve issues on automation systems software and hardware including industrial communication protocols such as ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Ethernet IP, etc.
•Creation of SOP’s and user guides for the sites control systems.
•Act as system Admin for the site control systems
The Person:
•Qualifications with an HNC in a suitable engineering discipline.
•Preferable pharmaceutical or similar manufacturing experience.
•PLC/SCADA fault finding and programming
•Experience either building, commissioning or problem solving Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Panels.
•Experience of Barcode recognition technology.
•Experience Reading and Updating Electrical and Controls Schematics and Documentation and SOP’s
•Experience of Change Management processes.
•Work within a team and take the lead in resolution of controls related issues and improvements.
•Working knowledge of PUWER and Safe Working Practices.
•Fundamental understanding of IT systems like IP Networking, Server Architecture, SQL Databases.
•Understanding of health and safety legislation regarding safe working practices
•Understanding of GAMP5 and ISA88
•Understanding of 21 CFR part 11
•Strong communication skills and ability to use MS Office Suite.
