Company: Mid-sized biotech focused on cancer neoantigen evolution and next-generation immunotherapies
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to join our Computational Biology team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will focus on bringing key external genomics and immuno-oncology analysis pipelines in-house, ensuring they are robust, well-validated, and scalable for ongoing research programmes.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in genomics, NGS data analysis, and computational workflows, along with strong proficiency in Python and bash/Linux. Candidates may come from either an academic or industry background, with:
* PhD + 1–2 years of industry experience, or
* Master’s + 3–5 years of relevant industry experience
This is a remote role with periodic travel to our Cambridge site for team meetings, technical alignment, and project reviews.
Key Responsibilities
* Internalise and adapt existing external NGS/genomics pipelines, ensuring compatibility with internal infrastructure and data standards.
* Develop, optimise, and validate workflows for DNA/RNA sequencing datasets, neoantigen prediction, and related immunogenomics analyses.
* Collaborate with computational biologists, immunologists and wet-lab teams to define requirements and integrate pipelines into research operations.
* Manage and QC large-scale sequencing datasets, ensuring accuracy, reproducibility, and traceability.
* Contribute to pipeline documentation, version control, and best practices for computational reproducibility.
* Provide bioinformatics support across project teams, including exploratory analyses, data visualisation, and troubleshooting.
* Participate in sprint planning, technical reviews, and collaborative problem solving across cross-functional teams.

* Strong expertise in NGS data processing and analysis, such as alignment, variant calling, transcriptomics, or tumour immunogenomics.
* Proficiency in Python for bioinformatics tool development and data manipulation.
* Competency with bash/Linux environments, HPC/Cloud computing, and workflow automation.
* Experience working with common bioinformatics tools (e.g., BWA, STAR, GATK, Nextflow/Snakemake, bedtools, samtools) is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with immuno-oncology or neoantigen prediction pipelines is a plus.
Soft Skills & Behaviours
* Clear communicator able to translate computational outputs into actionable biological insights.
* Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with cross-functional scientific teams.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to meet milestones within a defined contract window.
* Self-driven, solution-oriented, and comfortable adapting external methodologies to internal needs.
