HMP Garth and HMP Wymott, near Leyland are recruiting a Qualified Practice Lead.
Help us make a difference by helping to improve the Oral Health of vulnerable patients in a secure setting. Delivering dental care in a secure setting is a challenge but could be rewarding and satisfying for an experienced and proven Dental Nurse, where two days are never the same, and there is a sense of camaraderie with other Healthcare staff and HMPPS Officers.
The Opportunity
The Practice Lead will be responsible for overseeing and managing the dental services provided within the prison, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and leading a team of dental professionals to deliver excellent patient care. The position is on a full-time basis – Monday to Friday (36 hours/week) .
Responsibilities include the following:
Patient: Learn how to enter patient appointment applications onto SystmOne (Healthcare software system) waiting lists, and facilitate patient feedback by collecting and sending patient satisfaction surveys to the compliance team. Help organise the diary in Garth and influence the patient flow in Wymott.
People : Approve holiday requests, manage the staff rota, organise Locum Nurses, enter staff appraisals and organise Gate Passes for dental engineers, and remind staff of any missing personal and professional documents.
HR process : Ensure HR processes are adhered to, and mandatory meetings take place promptly such as Attendance Trigger Meetings, Appraisal meetings and other 121s.
Associates : Remove barriers that impact our Associates’ experience and their ability to deliver care effectively to their patients.
Compliance : Stay committed to maintaining quality, safety and compliance at all levels of operation by maintaining a system to ensure that critical X-ray exams and equipment maintenance certificates are collected, Risk Assessments are carried out and patient information leaflets are updated.
Other Administration : Collect data for Quarterly NHS Schedule Meetings, collect data for Local Delivery Board meetings eventually attend the Local Delivery Board Meetings, and work towards CQC practice manager registration .
Requirements and Skills
1. Qualified Dental Nurse
2. Demonstrate the ability to lead a team
3. Support the clinical staff independently
4. Be a self-starter and be able to problem-solve
5. Work with other teams and departments within a prison setting
6. Good communication skills
7. Undergo the prison vetting procedure and undertake prison induction training on both sites
