Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with complex needs?
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN secondary school in Havering. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Complex Learning Difficulties, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH, and challenging behaviour.
The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for students aged 11–19 and is seeking resilient, proactive, and empathetic individuals who are passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.
The Role:
1. Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
2. Assisting with personalised learning and classroom engagement
3. Supporting students with complex behavioural, emotional, and communication needs
4. Encouraging independence, social development, and emotional regulation
5. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
6. Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
7. Previous experience working within an SEN school or alternative provision
8. Strong experience supporting children or young adults with complex needs
9. Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, PMLD, or behavioural needs
10. A calm, patient, and resilient approach
11. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
12. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
13. Team Teach or MAPA training is desirable but not essential

This role would suit experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, Youth Workers, Care Workers, or Psychology graduates with experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
